JOB OPENING: Seasonal Water Park DIRECTOR

JOB TITLE: Seasonal Water Park Director

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Seasonal Water Park Director works from approximately the third week in March to the third week in September. The position is intended to work 40 hours per week, but weekly schedules are based on operational factors impacting workload on a week by week basis. Hours above the standard work week have been approved by the Recreation Director and will be logged and will be provided back to the employer in the form a compensation time based on an hour for hour basis. Any compensation time not afforded by the end of the season will be paid at the straight per hour rate by the Town. The position is responsible directly to the Recreation Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
• Responsible for facility maintenance and operations, including but not limited to, lighting, filtration, purification and overall safety of the facility.
• Responsible for maintaining, supervising and conducting all marketing and promotional activities related to Wetlands Water Park.
• Coordinates and supervises formal safety programs related to all operations of the park facility.
• Directs and ensures the development, maintenance and supervision of on-going training and educational programs for lifeguards, cashiers, concessions and ancillary service personnel.
• Directors, supervises and ensures the preparation, maintenance, review and submission of reports and records as required by the Director or established policy.
• Oversee Water Park employee staffing, including but not limited to, seasonal managers, certified lifeguards, CPR/Fire Aid certified slide attendants, café works, maintenance workers, customer service workers and all other positions required to operate the facility.
• Oversee employee scheduling to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate.
• Oversee the operation of the concession stand, customer service and all ticket sales.
• Plans, directs and supervises staff and volunteers in instructional swimming programs and special events. • Responsible for supervising the scheduling and use of the facilities (volleyball courts, shelters, play areas, etc.) associated with the Water Park.
• Supervise, schedule and evaluate seasonal personnel.
• Supervise scheduling and implementation of all private parties, birthday parties and other special events. • Work with Recreation Director to requisition chemicals, supplies and equipment for the facility.
• Work with Recreation staff and Recreation Director to develop, promote and supervise a diverse aquatic program for all ages in accordance with community needs.
• Reduce staff levels when necessary to reflect labor needs during inclement weather, sickness, school schedule, etc.
• Work with the Recreation Director, Town Recorder and others in developing, preparing, monitoring and analyzing the Wetlands Water Park budget, reports and records.
• Work with the Recreation Director and others in short and long-term planning related to Wetlands Water Park facilities, operations, and program improvements, maintenance and future development and expansion.
• Works directly with all supervisors to identify employee talent, job assignments and cross training. .

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Ability to instruct, assign, supervise and evaluate personnel in the performance of their duties.
• Ability to work harmoniously with pool staff, patrons and the public while enforcing all policies and rules.
• Knowledge of swimming pool financial operations and record keeping of recreational facilities.
• Thorough knowledge of emergency services and auxiliary services available in the community.
• Considerable knowledge of the operation of a swimming pool including sanitation, maintenance and safety.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in operation and management of a family aquatic center, pool complex, water park or related recreation area, or five (5) years’ experience in management of enterprise with numerous employees.
• Minimum high school graduate.
• Some college or post-secondary school experience preferred.
• Current American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certificate. • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate – required within one year from date hired.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Management certified - required within one year from date hired.
• Current Certified Pool or Aquatic Facility Operator preferred.
• High moral character and mature judgement.
• Desire to work within a team concept, giving and receiving input from all staff levels.

ADA REQUIREMENTS: Physical Requirements: Task involves frequent walking, standing; some lifting and carrying of moderate weight (12 – 20 lbs.); and/or the operation of vehicles, office, shop keyboard, or hand tools in which manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are important ingredients of safety and/or productive operations.

Environmental Requirements: Task may require infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Task may involve exposure to noise, hazards and chemicals, and exposure for intermittent periods of time to inclement weather. Worker may be required to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
